A Brief Taste of Summer

Tuesday was a warm, but unsettled day across the Commonwealth, with strong thunderstorms across the northern tier of the state. Regions that did not see these storms ended up with a gorgeous day, with plentiful sunshine and temperatures in the high 70s and 80s. It was a humid day, with dew points in the 50s and 60s, and more of the same is on the way.

Wednesday brings record challenging heat to the Commonwealth, with widespread 80s and 90s for all expect the Lake Erie lakeshore. Multiple reporting sites could break daily records for high temperatures. Dew points remain high, and strong to severe storms are possible in Western PA this evening, with widespread showers and downpours for the majority of the state tonight.

The rest of the week remains above average for temperatures, but not as warm as Wednesday, with temperatures hovering in the high 70s and low 80s through Saturday. A cold front will swing through the Commonwealth on Sunday, dropping temperatures back to near average for this time of the year.
