Severe Weather Threat – August 12th, 2023

The entire Commonwealth is under a severe weather risk on Saturday, August 12th, as the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed certain areas under either a marginal or slight risk.

The best chance for severe weather will fall in the slight (2/5) risk, which includes much of the state. Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in this risk zone. A lower risk for severe weather will fall in those living under the marginal (1/5) risk, where isolated severe thunderstorms are possible. No matter the risk you fall under, all should be prepared for potential severe weather.

Main Threats:

All severe weather hazards will be expected tomorrow with any thunderstorm that reaches severe criteria. Not every single location will experience severe weather, however, for those that do, expect damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and the potential for an isolated tornado or two.
